Next Step in IT Purchase Planning: Division of IT Launches Centralized Purchasing Portal

As part of the next phase of the IT Purchase Planning Process Improvement Project, USC Division of IT is introducing a centralized IT Purchasing Portal that launches on August 4, 2025. This new tool will serve as a single point of entry for initiating, tracking, and managing IT purchase requests across all university units. 

Why it matters

The IT Purchasing Portal builds on previous efforts to streamline and improve transparency in IT procurement (i.e. IT Contracts Database). IT purchases of $10,000 or more are required to be submitted through the IT Purchase Portal for review.

By centralizing the purchasing process, the portal will help units navigate approvals more efficiently, reduce duplication of efforts, and ensure alignment with university-wide IT standards and strategic priorities. It also supports better planning and budgeting by providing real-time visibility into purchasing activity and needs across the institution.
