There are two summer program options to choose from:
Delivered through hands-on learning in the classroom, labs, modern gym, and trips to local sports organizations, students will develop knowledge in nutrition, recovery practices, physiology and prescription, strength and conditioning, coaching, performance analysis, and biomechanics.
While studying at Waikato, athletes will have the opportunity to continue with their sport, practicing with local teams in the evenings and competing on the weekends. Students will have access to state-of-the-art high performance training centres where researchers work with elite teams, including New Zealand Cycling and New Zealand Sevens rugby, to reach peak athletic performance.
This short programme will be delivered through a mixture of learning in the classroom, filming in the television studio, editing in computer labs, and have hands-on use of film production equipment.
You will work in an intensive creative environment, where you will collaborate with your team to produce professional short films. You will dive into using cameras, lighting, and sound equipment to create a series of progressively complex and independent short films.
You will cover the chronological aspects of moving image production: pre-production, production, and post-production, including learning and using the professional editing tool Adobe Premier Pro.
The highlight of the programme is the creation of a professionally produced short film that will strengthen your portfolio and and develop the skills necessary to pursue a career in film production.
