What is Campus Optics?
Campus Optics is a modern, cross‑departmental safety and compliance platform used by colleges and universities nationwide. It brings together environmental health & safety, fire & life safety, inspection management, incident reporting, asset tracking, and emergency planning into a unified system.
Key features include:
- Inspections & Checklists — create templates, assign inspections, capture findings with photos and notes, and route issues for remediation.
- Asset & Chemical Inventory — map safety assets, track chemical containers, link to Safety Data Sheets (SDS), import or scan barcodes/QR codes.
- Incident & Issue Reporting — log safety incidents or hazards, attach media, assign follow-up actions, and maintain compliance records.
- Training & Compliance Tracking — assign required safety training, monitor completion, and send reminders for compliance tasks.
- Document Access & Emergency Plans — store floor plans, emergency plans, SDS sheets, safety documents and make them accessible via mobile.
- Mapping & Visualization — view safety assets, hazard locations, and incidents on campus maps; generate public-facing maps for things like AEDs or call boxes.
Who can use Campus Optics?
Anyone with an USC email address can log in to Campus Optics! Levels of access will be determined based on your role, such as a Principle Investigator, lab personnel, or administrative personnel.
What if I am a contractor, visitor, or other non-USC personnel?
You can still use our USC Campus Optics system! There are several public features you can access, such as submitting hazardous waste pickup requests, viewing AED locations in buildings, and using the SDS portal for our chemical on campus..
