About this Fellowship
Available to graduating seniors, graduate students and recent alumni to conduct research, pursue advanced study, practice a creative art or undertake teaching assistantships for one year in a foreign country.
The UofSC campus process begins annually in the spring semester, and applicants work with advisors throughout the summer, leading up to the fall campus deadline.
Candidates must meet with the UofSC campus committee for a campus evaluation early in the fall semester. Strong applicants present a clear program of study or teaching to be carried out in a particular setting abroad.
Award Value
Supports one year of research, study, or teaching English abroad through the US Fulbright program. Travel and living expenses provided.

Other Fellowships to Consider
Rotary Global Grant
Scholarships to support one year of graduate level study abroad, with sustainable, high-impact outcomes in one of Rotary's six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development. Minimum of $30,000 for graduate-level study during one academic year abroad. Funds may be used for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room, board, language training (if necessary) and living expenses.
DAAD Study Scholarship
Provides a year of independent study or a full master's degree program at a German university for highly qualified graduating seniors or recent graduates. €750 monthly stipend, health insurance, flat rate for international travel cost. Limited funds available for a rent subsidy.
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees
Sponsored by the European Union, Erasmus Mundus offers students scholarships to complete one of the many offered Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters and Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates. Tuition fees and participation costs (including insurance), travel cost contribution, installation cost contribution, and monthly allowance.
Teach and Learn in Korea - TALK
A unique scholarship for undergraduates and recent graduates to teach English in South Korea for 6 months or one year. Monthly stipend, accommodation, transportation costs to Korea, health insurance, and a settlement subsidy.
Teaching Assistant Program in France
Offers teaching contracts for 7 months throughout France to teach English at the elementary or secondary level. Monthly stipend of approximately 800 Euro per month, and health insurance.
Japan Exchange and Teaching Program
Supports those interested in teaching English in Japanese schools and government offices. Annual salary based on length of time with the program, and travel expenses to Japan.
North American Language and Culture Assistants Program
One-year program placing native English speakers in elementary and secondary school in Spain to serve as teaching assistants. Monthly stipend of €700-1000 and medical insurance.
