About this Fellowship
The Voyager Scholarship gives college students financial aid to alleviate the burden of college debt, meaningful travel experiences to expand their horizons, and a network of mentors and leaders to support them. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to public service and plan on a career in public service post-graduation.
The Voyager scholarship offers students up to $25,000 per year for their junior and senior years of college. After graduation, Airbnb will provide a $2,000 travel credit every year for 10 years, totaling $20,000.
Students will receive a $10,000 stipend and free Airbnb housing to pursue a summer work-travel experience between their junior and senior years. Students design their own Summer Voyage to gain exposure to new communities and experience in a chosen field.
In addition, students are invited each fall to an annual summit to help define and inspire their public service journey. Throughout the program, students will be invited to an ongoing speaker series, and after graduation, they will join the Obama Foundation’s global community, providing them with Foundation resources and programming.
Award Value

Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship Program
PPIA is a fully-funded seven-week long summer program for college juniors to study at one of five Junior Summer Institutes (JSI) in areas of public service and international affairs. The JSI curriculum includes economics, statistics, domestic/international policy issues and leadership topics, all designed to sharpen the students' quantitative, analytic and communication skills. The ultimate goal of PPIA is to prepare students for graduate school in public policy, public administration, international affairs, or a related field. Full tuition at a PPIA JSI, $1,500 stipend (funding determined by each JSI), university housing and meal plan, books and course materials, minimum of a one-time $5,000 scholarship at a PPIA graduate school if admitted for a Master's degree (PPIA Fellows often receive offers above and beyond this minimum), fee waiver when applying for PPIA Graduate School Consortium members, eligibility to receive assistance with travel expenses.
