About this Fellowship

The National Institutes of Health Loan Repayment Programs (NIH LRP) pay researchers' qualified educational debt in return for a commitment to engage in NIH mission-relevant research.

The NIH LRP is designed to recruit and retain highly qualified health professionals into biomedical or biobehavioral research careers. Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree (a few programs also accept master's degrees) by the time the program begins. Recipients must be conducting eligible research at a non-profit organization in an allowed subcategory of research.

Applications open September 1 and typically are due in November.

Award Value

Pays up to $50,000 per year in eligible student loans for two years.
