About this Fellowship
The Institute of Current World Affairs Writing Fellowship provides two years of funding for outstanding young professionals to complete an immersive, independent writing fellowship abroad.
The Institute of Current World Affairs' mission is to advance deep understanding of global cultures and affairs. Each year, fellows are selected for two-year immersive writing fellowships in fellows' proposed countries of interest. Fellows write monthly dispatches about their experiences that are published on the ICWA website.
Fellows and immediate accompanying family are financially supported throughout the fellowship. The ICWA seeks applicants with "promise, curiosity and enthusiasm" and seeks project proposals from a variety of topics/regions. Fellows receive writing coaching and mentorship throughout the fellowship.
Exceptional writing skills and strong English language skills are a must.
Award Value
Full financial support for fellows and immediate accompanying families to live and write in their country of interest for two years. Funding covers living expenses and costs associated with completing the proposed project.
