About this Fellowship
Fully-funded summer program in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston, MA, for undergraduate students interested in pursuing MD-PhD training.
The HEART MD-PhD Summer Program is a student-led, fully funded initiative designed to support undergraduate students exploring physician-scientist career paths. The program offers longitudinal mentorship, hands-on research experience, clinical exposure, professional development, and a supportive peer community. Through this comprehensive training, we aim to foster the qualities of research competence, empathy, curiosity, and leadership that are essential for the MD-PhD application process and physician-scientist careers.
The application requires both the Leadership Alliance SR-EIP application and the HEART supplementary application. Applications open on Nov. 1 annually, with deadlines in early February. See their website for current dates.
The HEART program seeks applicants who have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by the beginning of the program and have at least one semester remaining of undergraduate study by the start of the program. They also require participants to have completed at least one summer or semester of research experience.
Award Value
$5,000 stipend, plus housing and reimbursement for travel expenses to and from Boston.
