About this Fellowship
Funded 10-month research experience and professional internship in Hungary.
The goal of the 10-month program is to cultivate the next generation of American policy professionals and equip them with a thorough understanding of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Hungary. The fellows will have an opportunity to conduct independent research on the topic fellows choose independently while gaining practical experience working at a Hungarian host institution that matches their professional interests. Fellows will also have an opportunity to prepare lesson plans for and teach BA students, as well as attend thematic seminars on Hungarian topics.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a research interest in Central and Eastern Europe, outstanding academic and research credentials and demonstrated leadership potential. Applicants should have a research plan tailored to Hungary focusing on one of the following areas: economic development, human rights, foreign and defense policy, energy security, public diplomacy, EU-Hungary relations, U.S.-Hungary relations, the history and legacy of communism in Hungary, contemporary Hungarian society and the neighboring countries.
The Junior Fellowship is aimed at students currently pursuing their Master’s degree or recently graduated from a Master’s program.
The Senior Fellowship is for advanced doctoral students (i.e. pre-doctoral fellows), post-doctoral researchers, and early career professionals, who hold at least a Master’s or a Ph.D. degree.
Deadlines are typically in March (early application) and April (general application). Refer to the program website for exact dates.
Award Value
$30,000-45,000 stipend plus housing, travel, health insurance, language classes, materials and excursions.
