About this Fellowship
Graduate funding opportunity for master's-level study at one of 15 French universities.
In recognition of 250 years of French-American friendship, this fellowship supports up to 30 American students per year. Applicants should be under the age of 27 and a recent graduate (fall 2023 to present) with a minimum GPA of 3.7. This fellowship is open to students in STEM, the humanities, social sciences, and the arts, with an interest in addressing global challenges – from sustainable transitions, health, and biotechnology, to peace, security, and AI –?in a French-American context. Knowledge of French is not required for acceptance into the program.
In addition to funding for a master's program, recipients also participate in the French-American Leadership Program, which features lectures, site visits, cultural immersion and mentorship support aimed at developing the next generation of transatlantic leaders.
Candidates must apply for admission to one of the partner institutions as well as complete a separate Lafayette Fellowship program application.
The application opens in late August and the deadline is typically in late November. Refer to the program site for details and exact dates.
Award Value
Full funding for one year of master's-level studies in France, including tuition, living expenses, travel, program activities and administrative costs.

Scholarships to support one year of graduate level study abroad, with sustainable, high-impact outcomes in one of Rotary's seven areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development and the environment. Minimum of $30,000 for graduate-level study during one academic year abroad. Funds may be used for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room, board, language training (if necessary) and living expenses.
