About this Fellowship

This scholarship is a one-time $5,000 award, provided upon confirmation of active enrollment in a geoscience graduate program. It is designed to support first-generation college students who are within two semesters of completing their bachelor’s degree in geoscience and are taking their first steps toward graduate education. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship will be awarded based on the applicant’s academic merit, demonstrated potential for success in a geoscience graduate program, and commitment to pursuing a career in the geoscience profession.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

Udall Scholarship

Scholarship for those with a demonstrated record of leadership, public service, and a commitment to careers related to the environment. Up to $7500 for tuition, room, board or other educational expenses.

NOAA Sea Grants

These are a category of awards given by NOAA, some at the federal level and many at the state level, for educational and/or professional experience in a variety of areas in marine science and policy. Varies based upon program, but may include tuition benefits or salary depending upon type of program.

NOAA Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship

The Davidson Fellowship is a two-year fellowship program that places one graduate student at each of the 29 national estuarine research reserves. Through a research project, fellows address a key reserve management need to help scientists and communities understand coastal challenges that may influence future policy and management strategies. up to $45,000 in direct costs. Direct costs should support the fellows and their research and may include stipend, supplies, travel, and tuition.
