Be sure to consult the Fellowship Website for complete eligibility and competition requirements.

About this Fellowship

Provides support for one to two years of a full master's degree program at a German university for highly qualified graduating seniors or recent graduates.

All academic fields are welcome. Graduating seniors are eligible to apply for a one-year Master's degree, or the first year of a two year program. Can also be used for one year of study in Germany as part of a master's degree completed at your home university in the US.

Grants are for 10-24 months depending upon your program. Students in the humanities and social sciences should have a good command of German. Some funding may be available for German language study.

Please note that DAAD Study grants do NOT cover tuition fees, so check your graduate program of interest to find out what, if any, tuition costs might be.

To ensure accessibility to study and research opportunities, DAAD can cover up to 10,000 euros in accommodation-related costs upon request. Learn more here.
