First-Generation Student Celebration

The Center for First-generation Student Success has recognized the University of South Carolina as a First Forward institution for its commitment to advancing first-generation student success.

First-Generation College Student Celebration Day

In 2017, the Council for Opportunity in Education in partnership with the NASPA Center for First-generation Student Success created First-Generation College Student Celebration Day to be celebrated on November 8 each year. Last year, UofSC hosted its inaugural celebration with First-Generation Student Celebration Day but this year, we are celebrating for a week!

First-Generation Student Celebration Week will be held Nov. 4 - 8 with various events to celebrate the presence, experience and success of first-generation college students, faculty and staff.  There will be door prizes at each event! You may send in your RSVP for any of the events for First-Gen Student Celebration Week at UofSC!

If you are unable to attend any events this year, we would still like to keep you informed of the First-Generation Celebration festivities that will be scheduled for future years. Sign up to identify yourself as first-generation to stay informed of future events.
