Jonathan has served as a representative for the Southeastern Region of the NAACP, president and vice president for the local chapter of the Young Democrats of America and presentation leader for Students in Free Enterprise. Jonathan is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (Beta Chi Sigma Chapter, which is the Columbia, S.C. Alumni Chapter) and has served as president and vice president  of the chapter.
