Pilates
This course will focus on the classic exercises developed by Joseph Pilates to help strengthen and condition the muscles. The Pilates philosophy is based on training the mind and body to come together toward the goal of overall fitness. Each exercise will focus on building core strength, lengthening the muscles, and improving flexibility. Proper breathing will also be demonstrated for each exercise in order to achieve the maximum benefits. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Pilates and become more aware of their alignment as they learn various exercises. Each of the three modules for this course will include Pilates workout videos and informative articles.
Performance will be assessed through recorded demonstration of specified exercises, journal entries, and quizzes. At the completion of the course, participants should have an in depth understanding of the Pilates method of exercises as well as the awareness of form and posture that can benefit their future wellness.
