Psychological Statistics

This course is an introduction to statistical methods essential for psychological research, and is required for psychology majors. Students will learn to analyze data and complete short analyses in written APA format.

Prerequisites: C or better in PSYC 101; C or better in MATH 111 or equivalent Math Placement score.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Construct and interpret frequency distribution tables and graphs.
  2. Compute and interpret basic measures of central tendency, variability, and correlation.
  3. Explain the logic and limitations of hypothesis testing.
  4. Compute and interpret inferential statistics for hypotheses about one or two means.
  5. Compute and interpret Analysis of Variance applications.
  6. Compute and interpret measures and tests of linear association.
  7. Explain under what conditions different statistical tests are used.
