Fall Move In FAQ

A - No, only residents living in University Housing.
A - Yes, testing for COVID-19 is required to live in Residence Halls. To expedite the move-in process, you are strongly encouraged to complete this required testing and upload your documents prior to arriving on campus for move in.
A - Unfortunately, we do not post layouts/floor plans of our residence halls. This is a security measure to ensure the safety of our residents.
 A - Residence halls will remain open until early December.  Some halls are 9-month halls that remain open throughout the holidays.  
 A - The goal is to limit contact and exposure in the residence halls, so the two guests should be the same people for move in assistance.
A - Housing Move In day and time selection is now LIVE at via the housing portal.
A - Due to normal campus traffic and move in traffic you are limited to one car in the traffic pattern at a time.  We encourage you to bring both and switch cars out as you unload.
A - Visit our traveling for move in page for additional information on parking and traffic patterns for fall Move In.
A - Due to the number of parking garages on campus with low ceilings, USCPD requests that guests refrain from bringing car toppers.
A - Everyone will have access to the housing portal to select a Move In day and time.  Numbers of move in times are limited due to physical distancing, however roommates can coordinate move in day times and days to move in at the same time.  This is not guranteed, nor can we change times to assist in this process.
A - Yes, face masks are required throughout the move in experience.  This is not only a University policy, but also a city of Columbia ordinance.
A - Carolina Cards will be made available to residents during the check in process.  A photo id will be required to pick up your Carolina Cards.

A - No more than two guests can accompany any resident on move in day.

A - University Housing currently anticipates sign up for Move In days and times to begin on July 15.

A - All early arrival groups will have to sign up for a day and time to move in, however when you access the housing portal at you will find that you only have access to the approved early arrival days.

A - We are currently finalizing plans and will publish them in the coming weeks.

A - Unfortunately due to physical distancing and social responsibility we will not have a move crew available this year.  In addition, we will not have carts available for move in.  Carts are cardboard and cannot be properly sanitized quickly for our guests to use in a safe manner.
A - Once your child checks into the residence halls you can stay until floor meetings begin in the early evening time frame.  After that we ask all parents and guests to leave the residence halls so that we can begin the orientation process for living with us.
A - Move in times are a starting time, not a time period.
A - The postal service will have a drive through pick up area at Carolina Coliseum for Move In days.
A - Information will be available beginning on July 15 on the housing portal at
