Sometimes we're putting our careers and our families ahead of our own needs. Other times the donuts in the break room are simply a lot more appealing than the apple that you grabbed on your way out the door.
And while smaller decisions like these can add up to larger concerns, the definition of "wellness" extends far beyond diet, exercise and the absence of illness.
At the University of South Carolina, wellness is defined as a holistic, well-balanced approach to living that involves the mind, body and spirit. UofSC supports personal wellness because of its documented, direct impact on work, academic success and quality of life.
We understand that faculty and staff wellness is essential to the goals of the university in supporting the academic success of our students. Gamecocks LiveWell was created to support healthy lifestyle decisions, leading to measurable and successful outcomes for faculty and staff — both individually and for the university workforce as a whole.
In collaboration with Campus Recreation, Human Resources, Campus Dining Services and Healthy Carolina, Gamecocks LiveWell offers a variety of programs and services to help meet the health and wellness needs of university faculty and staff.
