Information About COVID-19 Requirements for Incoming International Students

University Health Services Guidance: COVID-19 Testing, Self-Quarantine, and Vaccine Information

Self-Quarantine Requirement:

Per University Health Services guidance, unvaccinated international students entering from outside the U.S. should self-quarantine &  self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 7 days after arrival. You are responsible for managing your own self-quarantine period. No one will be enforcing this self-quarantine period, but we fully expect you to quarantine for 7 days until it is clear that you do not have COVID-19 symptoms or exposure.

COVID-19 Testing Requirement:

International students entering from outside the U.S. should be tested for COVID-19 within 3 – 5 days of arrival (this means you will leave self-quarantine to get tested). For more information on COVID-19 testing locations, see the University Health Services website.

Students residing in UofSC-operated housing must provide proof of one of the following before being able to move in to thier university housing.

    • a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test conducted no more than 10 days prior to arrival to campus
    • proof of prior positive COVID-19 infection within the last 90 days
    • a completed COVID-19 vaccination record
    • These records do not have to be in English, but you need to provide a translation if they are in another language. It is OK for you to self-translate this document.

Students living off-campus must provide proof of one of the following by Wednesday, Aug. 18:

    • a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test conducted between Aug. 8 to Aug. 18
    • proof of a prior positive COVID-19 infection within the last 90 days
    • a completed COVID-19 vaccination record
    • These records do not have to be in English, but you need to provide a translation if they are in another language. It is OK for you to self-translate this document.

Upload proof of one of the above to your MyHealthSpace account.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

The COVID vaccine is not required to return to campus.  However, the COVID-19 vaccine is readily available in the U.S. for all individuals over the age of 16. There is ample availability for on-campus vaccine appointments. If you already received a full dose of a WHO approved vaccine in your home country, you can upload it to your MyHealthSpace account. If the vaccination information is another language, please provide a translation.
