Become a Safe Zone Ally
Attend a Training
We offer trainings multiple times every semester or we can arrange a special session for an individual group. Training sessions last three hours.
After your training you will be certified for three years. If you're comfortable with LGBTQ+ students approaching you to talk about issues, you may choose to display a Safe Zone decal in your office to let others know it is a safe place.
What is Safe Zone?
A program that builds safe space across campus by visibly identifying students, staff
and faculty who support the LGBTQ+ population. The program also offers educational
and ongoing engagement opportunities for USC community members to explore and understand
issues related to the LGBTQ+ community.
Trans Advocacy Training
The Trans Advocacy Workshop is designed to further examine issues of sexual identity and gender expression. This workshop narrowly focuses on transgender identities, issues, and experiences. All interested participants in the Trans Advocacy Workshop are required to complete the LGBT Safe Zone Workshop before registering for the session. Trans Advocacy workshops are available upon request to all students, faculty, and staff.
Registered Safe Zone Allies
See the list of individuals who are Safe Zone certified and have chosen to make their information public.
Don't see yourself on the list?
We update the registry approximately once a month so it may take some time for you to be added. Your certification is active for three years following training. If you were trained more than three years ago and have not updated your status, you will not appear on our public registry. If you still think you should be on the list, email lgbtusc@mailbox.sc.edu.
