The event featured a warm welcome from the Governor of South Carolina, Henry McMaster, who emphasized the significance of fostering a strong STEM workforce. He highlighted how these careers are crucial for driving innovation, economic growth and job creation in South Carolina. The Governor’s inspiring words set a positive tone for the day, encouraging attendees to engage in discussions about the opportunities available in STEM fields.

Throughout the day, STEM students and faculty researchers from the Southeast networked with SRNL university partners, including USC, Clemson University, SC State University, the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. Participants had the opportunity to connect with researchers and leadership from SRNL, as well as program managers from the Department of Energy (DOE).

The program introduced participants to careers in research and development with SRNL and featured a series of informative sessions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities designed to connect participants with resources and support for pursuing careers in STEM.
