Sean Cleary serves as the Assistant Director for Resources and External Relations for the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition. In this role, Sean is responsible for overseeing the administration and dissemination of the Center’s publications, developing and sharing Center-created resources with both USC and external audiences, and monitoring and maintaining the Center’s distribution channels (listservs, databases, and website). He also interfaces with the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support’s communications team to support the Center’s communications strategy and social media channels, serves as a liaison between the Center and its advisory boards and other key partners (organizations, vendors, and sponsors), and assists the Director with strategic planning and reporting tasks.
Prior to joining the NRC, Sean spent 3 years as a budget analyst at the University of South Carolina - Columbia, 5 years in undergraduate admissions at the University of South Carolina - Columbia, Georgia Southern University, and the University of Massachusetts - Boston, and 5 years in enrollment management at Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education in Cambridge, MA.
Sean is a Columbia, SC native and a proud University of South Carolina alum. Outside of work, Sean enjoys cooking, reading, running, working out, and cheering on the Gamecocks. You’ll also most likely find him grabbing a coffee at one of Columbia’s many local coffee shops and strolling through the Soda City Market downtown on Saturdays.
