Provost Staff Excellence Award

Within the University of South Carolina’s Academic Affairs division, staff members play a pivotal role in shaping a vibrant, innovative, and supportive campus environment. Their dedication and professionalism ensure the ongoing success of our schools, colleges, and academic programs, often going above and beyond to provide exceptional service to students, faculty, and the broader community. The pursuit of excellence among these staff is evident in the collaborative spirit, creative problem-solving, and unwavering commitment that define their contributions each day.

Criteria for Selection 

  1. A minimum of three full years working in an FTE role at USC-Columbia (Temporary employees are not eligible).
  2. Candidate must be in good standing with up- to-date employee evaluations on file.

Selection Process 

  • Nominations will be accepted from an academic department chair or a direct supervisor.
  • Application files are to be submitted electronically through a submission form.
  • Individuals may only be nominated for this award every five years.

Timeline 

Nominations will open beginning in October and are due to the Office of the Provost by December 1. Awardees will be notified prior to the spring Provost Retreat, where the award recipients will be recognized.

Required Materials for Candidate’s file 

  1. A narrative (maximum three pages) which details the nominee’s exceptional work and the qualities that distinguish them as a candidate for this recognition.
  2. A letter of support (maximum two pages) from the supervisor or department head.

Recipients will receive a $3,000 one-time bonus.
