Dean of the Graduate School

The Opportunity

The search for the position of the Dean of the Graduate School   began in September 2022. The Dean of the Graduate School at the University of South Carolina will lead a service unit committed to enhancing the experience of graduate students and the faculty and staff with whom they work. The Graduate School staff provide timely, consistent, and accurate information; adapt and enforce meaningful policies to ensure academic integrity; track student success; and build bridges across campus and community to showcase the university’s diverse and talented graduate student body.

The Graduate School strives to be an innovative, flexible and dynamic organization and a collaborative guide celebrated for responsive and efficient service providing accessible and trusted leadership to the campus and higher education communities. Current goals of the Graduate School include:

  • Better serve the needs of students, applicants, faculty, staff and other members of the university community.
  • Provide meaningful professional development, academic enrichment and student services to enhance student experience.
  • Establish effective internal and external communication, including enhanced marketing and recruitment material, with prospective and current students, graduate faculty and other stakeholders.
  • Advance the reputation of USC as a top ranked research institution by enhancing public and university awareness of the importance and value of graduate education at USC.

The Position

The Dean of the Graduate School reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and is a member of the Council of Academic Deans. The position description will be posted in October 2022.
