The University of South Carolina invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of USC Connect. Time commitment/effort is up to 12 months / 100% and is negotiable. The Director reports to the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Studies and will work closely with the Vice President for Student Affairs.
The USC Connect Director will play a key role in envisioning and developing the next steps for Experiential Learning and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) due in 2020 to Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The individual will lead efforts to facilitate and grow Graduation with Leadership Distinction and integrative learning at the UofSC and is expected to participate in national meetings related to quality enhancement plans, experiential and integrative learning in higher education, and related issues.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the best practices regarding integrative and experiential learning in higher education and strong leadership skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required and experience in assessment of student learning, program evaluation, and institutional accreditation is preferred.
Other skills essential for the position include:
- the ability to supervise the five full time staff in the USC Connect Office,
- direct the office budget, and
- work with faculty, staff, and student representatives throughout the USC community at Columbia and the Regional Campuses including working with various on-campus offices and groups.
The position requires that the person hold the terminal degree and be either a fulltime faculty member or a higher education professional.
USC Connect was formed to implement the 5-year QEP for USC (Columbia, Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, and Union campuses) approved by the SACSCOC in 2011 (see the website for a history and details). The office of USC Connect has been instrumental in ensuring the success of our first QEP and is known for implementing Graduation with Leadership Distinction, a program unique to the UofSC.
