The Office of the Vice President for Research relies on faculty members throughout the UofSC system to support our programs by generously giving their time to serve as reviewers and mentors. We are so grateful to all the many faculty members who take time out of their busy schedules to ensure UofSC’s research programs meet the highest standards and serve the best interests of our diverse research community.

We are pleased to recognize dedicated faculty members with two internal research awards, each honoring a unique set of contributions.

• Distinguished Research Service Award recipients have demonstrated exceptional commitment to USC’s research community through consistent service as reviewers and committee members for our internal funding and awards programs.
• Distinguished Undergraduate Research Mentor Awardees have dedicated extensive time and energy to guiding undergraduate students through the research process, from developing a new project to teaching research methods and skills to providing the support needed for the student to see their project through.

UofSC Vice President for Research Prakash Nagarkatti said, “One of the top priorities of our office is to support faculty, students and postdocs through a wide variety of internal research programs. But our office cannot do this on our own. We rely on faculty members from every corner of the UofSC system to support these programs by evaluating proposals and mentoring students through the research process. The faculty members receiving 2020 Distinguished Research Service Awards and Distinguished Undergraduate Research Mentor Awards have done a great deal to serve the UofSC research community.
