Exceptional Research Service Awards

The Carolina Grants and Innovation Hub has created the Exceptional Research Service Awards to celebrate National Research Administrator Day, providing an annual opportunity to recognize the hard work and professional accomplishments of research administration staff at the University of South Carolina.

The best research administrators and technical support staff set the stage for innovation by providing top-notch support throughout the research process, from proposal development to handling the finer points of accounting, from ensuring ethical use of human subjects to helping researchers with important laboratory tasks. The STRIVE 2025 Research Service Awards honor outstanding staff members who provide the administrative and technical support researchers need to make breakthroughs.

Four awards are open for nominations to be presented during the STRIVE Awards and Recognition Brunch on September 25, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in the Russell House ballroom.

Criteria for Selection

Nominations for the 2025 STRIVE Research Service Awards are submitted through RedCap at the links provided for each award category. Faculty and staff members may submit one nomination per award but may not nominate the same staff member for more than one award. In other words, faculty and staff members may nominate a separate staff member for each of the four awards. If reviewers find that a nominee for one award would be a stronger candidate for another award, the nominee may be considered for the award that fits their qualifications best.

To submit a nomination, the nominator should prepare a one-page nomination letter addressing the criteria for the award category. In addition to the nomination letter, up to two (2) letters of support can be included in the nomination packet. The letter of nomination serves as the primary material reviewers will evaluate when deliberating, so it is the most important component of the nomination.

All nominations are due by 12 p.m. on September 12, 2025, via the RedCap forms linked in the "Awards" section.

Please contact Emily Devereux at devereue@mailbox.sc.edu with any questions.
