USC Staff Senate Outstanding Staff Award 

This Staff Senate award recognizes USC staff members (from the Columbia and SOM Columbia and Greenville campuses) who contribute outstanding and meritorious service, as well as superior performance at the institution. This Staff Senate award is designed to recognize outstanding staff members for their dedication to advancing the mission of our great university and serving the community at large.

Any current USC staff member, faculty member or student may nominate an outstanding individual for the USC Staff Senate Outstanding Staff Award. The nominator must have a valid USC email address.

The Staff Senate Outstanding Staff Award Selection Committee will review all nominations and select the award winning staff members (number of awards to be determined by the selection committee) based on exceptional contributions to USC, fellow employees and the community in the following areas:

  • Service and quality of work.
  • Impact of professionalism and dedication to excellence.
  • Innovation, Initiative and reliability beyond required assignments and expectations.
  • Uniqueness of contributions.


Each of the USC Staff Senate Outstanding Staff Award recipients will receive:

  • A one-time cash award (to be determined).
  • Recognition at the USC Staff Senate Awards Ceremony.
  • Outstanding Staff Award plaque.
  • Recognition on the USC Staff Senate awards webpage linked to the Staff Senate webpage.

 

Nominee Eligibility:

  • Must be a full-time USC staff member at the time of nomination and recognition (all full-time equivalent [full-time or part-time]) and research grant position employees of the university are eligible to be nominated. Time-limited and temporary employees are not eligible for the award.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of continuous employment at USC prior to nomination.
  • Explain how the nominee exhibits exceptional service and produces quality work or contributes to the nominee’s department, unit or college as a whole.*
  • Describe the unique impact the nominee has had on USC.*
  • Describe a specific situation (or situations) that demonstrated reliability or sustained achievement that exceeded normal expectations.*

*Requires a brief written description on the nomination form

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • All nominations are pending until verified that the employee is in good standing with USC.
  • Recipients of the Staff Senate Outstanding Staff Award are not eligible to be nominated again for three years after their last recognition.
  • USC Staff Senate senators are not eligible to be nominated for this award until one year after their tenure on Staff Senate has concluded.
