Brian Lusk has been named the new Executive Director of Mental Health for the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support, effective Feb. 3. In his new role – Lusk will oversee mental health initiatives, including Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS), within Student Health and Well-Being.
“Throughout his career, Brian has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to enhancing the mental health and well-being of individuals. His leadership at Radford University has been exemplary, with his references consistently praising his contributions and character,” said Stacy Fritz, Chief Health Officer and Associate Vice President of Student Health and Well-Being.
Lusk comes to USC with nearly two decades of experience as a licensed professional counselor and mental health leader. Most recently, he served as Director of Student Counseling Services and Director of Substance and Violence Education Support (SAVES) at Radford University in Virginia. He has also taught classes at Wake Forest University, James Madison University and Radford University.
Lusk earned his Ph.D. in counseling and supervision from James Madison University in 2024. He also holds a master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Radford University and a bachelor’s in psychology from Bluefield University.
