Peer Financial Consultant (PFC)

Peer Financial Consultants meet 1 on 1 with students by facilitating Money Management Consultations to discuss financial wellness strategies such as basic budgeting, credit, and student loan repayment, in order to co-create a plan to maximize the student’s potential for success.


To be considered, you must:

  • Undergraduate student with an overall GPA of a 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Related experience to position responsibilities (prior experience meeting with students 1:1, mentoring, overcoming personal financial obstacles, etc.)
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Exhibits flexibility and ability to adapt
  • Eager and willing to learn
  • Attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of campus resources and base understanding of referral etiquette


Job Responsibilities

  • Meet with students 1:1 throughout the semester and provide support in the form of one-on-one and drop-in consultations
  • Facilitate money management workshops through the semester 
  • Assist with Financial Literacy outreach events including but not limited to Off Campus Housing Fairs, Study Abroad Fairs,
  • Healthy Carolina Farmers Market, etc.
  • Attend all Bi-weekly Staff Meetings and continuous programmatic trainings over the course of the semester 
  • Attend weekly Peer Leader Cohort Trainings (1st semester of employment only)
  • Maintain contact with Coordinator of Money Management throughout the semester
