UofSC's exchange program at the Université d'Artois is designed to provide students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in French life and culture and further develop their French language skills. The UofSC exchange program is based at the main campus of the Université d'Artois in Arras.
The city of Arras is located about 45 minutes north of Paris by high-speed train, 40 minutes south of Lille, and is very close to the Belgian border. The city itself is over 2,000 years old and boasts two famous squares made up of 155 houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Université d'Artois campus in Arras offers a small campus learning environment with many ways to meet French and other international students by becoming involved in French-student life through academics and participation in social and athletic clubs and associations.
Cost: UofSC resident tuition rates + in-country costs
Requirements: 3.0 GPA, French Major or Minor, completed at least one 300-level French course with a minimum score of B.

Students at Artois have the opportunity for individual travel. In addition, the International Relations Office organizes a day-long excursion to discover the region. Exchange students can also participate in the student organizations, sports, and other areas of campus life while in Arras.
Per university policy, all UofSC students will be charged emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance for their time abroad. Contact the Study Abroad Office for more details.
Artois can accommodate students in a university residence in Arras, "Résidence de l'Artois". Students also have the option of arranging private accommodation independently in Arras and the university can help by providing landlord's contact details.
Artois' master calendar is very similar to UofSC's. The fall semester runs from early September through December and the spring semester runs from the beginning of January to mid-May or the end of June, depending on the exam schedule.
Artois holds an orientation session for all incoming exchange students which takes place at the beginning of September for the fall semester and the beginning of January for the spring semester. More information on orientation and preparing for your arrival will be sent out to students pending acceptance into the exchange program.
Students who attend Artois for a semester or academic year are required to register with Campus France and go in person to a VFS Office to obtain a French visa.
