UofSC's business exchange program at the University of Edinburgh is designed to expose students to the life and culture of the Scottish people while learning about the business culture of the UK. The program is located in Edinburgh, Scotland the capital city (pop. 500,000), which is approximately 5 hours north of London via train. Edinburgh is known for its rich history, literary heritage and artistic influences. It became the world's first UNESCO City of Literature and hosts the world's largest annual international arts festival known as the Fringe. Students will attend the University of Edinburgh and take classes with Scottish and other international students.

The United Kingdom is an expensive place to study abroad due to the weak exchange rate between the dollar and pound. Due to this fact, students need to budget accordingly and be aware that prices will be much higher while in the UK.
Students typically take 60 Edinburgh credits (30 ECTS credits) per semester and typically earn 15 U.S. credit hours. Courses are worth 20 credits each per semester. Students should expect lectures in class sizes ranging from 20-150 students, combined with tutorial groups where students with have smaller in-depth discussions and the ability to develop class themes.

Edinburgh's International Student Center organizes weekly social and cultural activities, including subsidized weekly trips around Scotland and England. Edinburgh's Student Association also organizes activities and events to support students.

Accommodation for international exchange students is guaranteed for a single semester or full year. For students who prefer to live off campus, the Accommodation Office offers an easy accommodation search engine on their website to provide assistance with finding a suitable flat. Students pay in-state tuition and fees to UofSC. Room and board costs are paid in Edinburgh and vary based on the type of accommodation chosen.
Students will study at the University of Edinburgh for the Spring term. Classes begin in January and end in May for the Spring semester.
The University of Edinburgh offers a welcome program for new international students during the first few days after arrival called January Welcome which includes an orientation entitled the Visiting Student Experience. Information on the local area, the university and other important details will be provided during this time.
Students who attend the University of Edinburgh for one semester (less than 6 months) do not need to apply for a visa in advance. You will receive a Student Visitor visa at the airport. Please contact the Study Abroad Office if you have questions.
