UofSC's direct enrollment program in Ireland is designed to expose students to the life and culture of the Irish people. This international opportunity is located in Maynooth, Ireland's only college town. Located just 15 miles west of the Dublin city centre, makes Maynooth town an ideal location for travel into the country's largest city and also to other international destinations.
Students will attend Maynooth University, also called the National University of Ireland Maynooth. A hybrid of three centuries, Maynooth boasts an old campus, South Campus as well as a new campus, North Campus. Maynooth town is home to a large variety of restaurants and enjoys a great social atmosphere. Maynooth Castle and Carton House are close by and offer an incredible look into Ireland's past.

Students pay all current tuition, housing and technology fees directly to Maynooth University. The estimated amount for tuition at Maynooth University is around €6000. Students will be responsible for accommodation and living expenses in addition to tuition: an estimated cost of living including accommodation, entertainment, food, bills, etc. calculates to around $6,000- $7,000 per semester.
Maynooth offers a variety of courses spanning across multiple disciplines. Students attend classes with Irish students and other students from around the world. All classes are taught in English with the exception of foreign language courses. Students typically earn between 12-15 credit hours per semester.

The International Office at Maynooth Universityoffers limited organized excursions, but the Maynooth Student Union hosts many programs and trips throughout the year. Students have opportunities for individual travel.
Per university policy, all UofSC students will be charged emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance for their time abroad. Contact the Study Abroad Office for more details.
Students can apply to live on campus in student accommodation or seek off campus housing in shared houses or apartments. On-campus housing is guaranteed for study abroad students. Room and board costs range from $3,000 to $3,500 a semester.
Classes begin in September and end in December for the fall semester, with first semester exams taking place in January. In the spring, classes begin in February and end in late May.
All new students must attend the orientation program that is scheduled at the beginning of each semester. During orientation students will be given information about the campus and community of Maynooth University. Services available to international students will be explained as well as locations of important places on campus. Maynooth University offers ongoing support services as well as opportunities for international students to get involved in the campus community.
Citizens of the USA do not require a visa to study in Ireland. It is, however, a requirement that all students register with the Immigration officer in Leixlip or Dublin within one month of arrival in Ireland. The immigration fee is currently €300. You will need to be enrolled and registered as a student at Maynooth before you can register with the Immigration officer. Full details will be given to students during orientation.
