Brisbane is one of Australia's most affordable capital cities, catering for a diverse range of lifestyles and can easily be enjoyed even on a student budget. Living costs will vary depending on the type of accommodation you choose, the number of people you live with, and the area you live in. You should estimate a minimum of AUD$6000 for essential living expenses per semester.
Students must enroll in a minimum of 48 credits (12 U.S. credits) per semester. Most courses are worth 12 credits. You can search QUT's website for subjects offered during your time abroad. Semester 1 at QUT is the equivalent of UofSC's Spring semester, while Semester 2 is the equivalent of Fall semester.

Exchange students live off-campus unless they are able to secure a spot in the Kelvin Grove Student Village. ISS provides personal accommodation assistance to all international students. Students new to QUT should attend New to Brisbane to find out more about rental accommodation in Brisbane and the services available to international students, including arranging appointments and transport to inspect rental properties.
The Australian academic calendar begins in February, with the first semester running from mid-February to late-June. The second semester commences in late-July and runs through the end of November.
The Study Abroad Orientation session is compulsory for Study Abroad students and a specific orientation for Study Abroad and Inbound Exchange students takes place approximately two weeks prior to the commencement of classes.
All students studying in Australia are required to have a valid "Non-Award" Australian Student Visa. The current cost of this visa is approximately $540. Students are automatically granted permission to work up to 20-hours a week in Australia with this visa.
