While the cost of living in China is typically lower than in the US, Beijing is major world city, so students need to plan accordingly. Renmin estimates the following living expenditures for students, per month: on-campus housing (900-2700 RMB), food (1200 RMB), transportation (100 RMB), laundry (150 RMB).
Students typically earn 12-15 credit hours per semester, and most courses are worth 3 USC credits. Students will not formally register for classes until arrival at Renmin. Attendance at Renmin is an important component of the grading system, and students with two or more absences will not be allowed to take course final exams. In additional to business courses, Renmin offers one 3-credit Chinese course for beginners.
Students should note that Renmin policy states that two or more absences results in an automatic failure of that course. Exam dates at Renmin are set in advance and cannot be changed. Students should be aware of exam dates when selecting courses.

Exchange students have access to the Renmin Career Development Center to get help visiting local companies and to become familiar with the Chinese job market.
Per university policy, all UofSC students will be charged emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance for their time abroad. Contact the Study Abroad Office for more details.
