Undergraduate Student Ombuds Services

Sometimes, things don’t go according to plan. An illness keeps you out of class. A family emergency requires you to be away from campus. You have a concern, but you’re not sure who to tell. Maybe you have a problem you’ve tried to solve, but you’re stumped about what to do next. The undergraduate student ombuds can help.

UofSC traditions

UofSC is a special place, with a vibrant community and caring spirit. There are many reasons to call South Carolina home, but the campus traditions are some of our students' favorite.

Leadership and Service Center

The Leadership and Service Center provides opportunities for students to connect to student organizations and to volunteer experiences in the community.  Students can also participate in leadership development training.

The Office Of Multicultural Students Affairs (OMSA)

The Office Of Multicultural Students Affairs (OMSA) promotes diversity, social justice and student success.  The Office  strives to educate the university community to promote understanding and acceptance.

Fraternity and Sorority Life

Membership in a fraternity or sorority is a fulfilling experience.  Members enhance leadership skills, participate in service events, and personal and professional development activities.  There are many benefits and responsibilities of membership.

 

Mental and emotional well-being

Student Health Services

Student Health Services provides students with comprehensive physical and mental health services. In addition, they also have a pharmacy for your prescription and over-the-counter needs. The Center for Health and Well-Being is located behind the Russell House.

Counseling and Psychiatry

University of South Carolina’s Counseling and Psychiatry provides essential therapy and emotional wellness services for students.  The office offers individual counseling, group counseling, and online support.  Services are available to students who have paid the Student Health Fee and/or are enrolled for at least 1 credit hour.

Student Disability Resource Center

The Student Disability Resource Center helps to ensure that students with disabilities receive reasonable accommodations. You must register with the office in order to utilize their services, which include requesting accommodations to help you succeed in your classes. The main SDRC office is in the Close-Hipp building.

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation provides access to safe recreation services, programs, and facilities.  Students have access to Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center, Blatt PE Center, a rock climbing wall, swimming pools, sports programming, outdoor recreation, group fitness classes, etc.

 

On-campus residents

On-Campus Housing

Living in on-campus Housing provides students the opportunity to develop and build lasting relationships with other students, faculty, and staff.  You also  have instant access to campus activities and it eliminates the need for commuting to campus.  Living on campus is not just for first-year students! If you wish to live on campus, be sure to be aware of application deadlines and fees needed for the application.

Moving off-campus

There are many avenues to investigate before selecting an off-campus residence. Narrow down your local housing search with the Off-Campus Living & Neighborhood Relations office that can easily connect you with affordable, student-friendly living choices.
