Finding Your Community at South Carolina

Bri Broomfield, coordinator for diversity and inclusion

Attending the University of South Carolina can sound intimidating, especially when you hear that we have 30,000+ students on campus. But don’t worry. We make it easy for you at South Carolina to find your place and meet people who share your interests. At the beginning of each semester, we host a student organization fair to showcase the majority of the clubs and organizations you can be part of. Many different organizations meet weekly to serve the community and simply connect.

Student Organizations

At South Carolina, there are 500+ organizations students can join. If you can’t find an existing club, you can even create your own! From cultural based organizations such as the Association of African American Students, Latin American Student Organization and the International Student Association to LGBTQIA+ organizations such as the Trans Student Alliance, Individual Respecting Identities and Sexualities, and Queer Connections, USC works to create an inclusive learning community for all.

Multicultural Student Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs hosts many programs and events available for everyone, no matter your background. They offer resources and student support to make sure students of all backgrounds feel safe and welcome on campus, such as BlackSpace and Queer Talks, programs that offer a safe space for students to come together to share support and experiences.

Greek Life

South Carolina has a thriving Greek community with more than 6,300 students involved in 48 different organizations. Greek life is a great way to meet new people and also give back to the community through service and philanthropy.

TRIO Programs

Students who identify as first-generation can find resources and support through TRIO programs. TRIO offers academic, financial and personal support for its students. If you participated in Upward Bound during middle school and high school, you will definitely want to connect with TRIO when you get to campus.

No matter your background, there is a place for you at the University of South Carolina. We can't to welcome you home.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
