Allard Henry Gasque Papers

Gasque represented the Sixth District in the U.S. House of Representatives, 1923-1938. Gasque also served as Superintendent of Education, Florence County, 1902-1923, and on the Democratic State Executive Committee, 1912-1920.

As a member and later chairman of the House Pension Committee, Gasque was a champion of America's veterans and their families.

Collection Finding Aid
This collection is comprised chiefly of constituent correspondence which reveals a great deal about life in South Carolina during the Depression, particularly in regard to the politics of the time.
