Open Access Week 2025

The University Libraries is celebrating its 10th annual Open Access Week from October 20 – 26, 2025. The theme of this year’s annual OA Week is Who Owns Our Knowledge? This theme invites us to ask how academic communities can reclaim ownership over the knowledge they create. Please join us for one or more OA Week events:

Title: Who Owns Our Knowledge? Power, Access, in Scholarly Publishing

Date: October 21, 2025

Description: 

In an age of global collaboration, AI-generated content, and shifting publishing models, the question “Who owns our knowledge?” is more pressing than ever. This panel explores the dynamics of ownership in knowledge production and dissemination from academic authorship knowledge systems to AI training data and Open Access publishing, and data privacy.

Title: Navigating NIH Data Management and Sharing Requirements

Description:

Join data librarians from Clemson and USC for virtual presentation on how to comply with the NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy. This session will introduce participants to NIH DMS Plan components, allowable costs for data management and sharing, and where to share data produced by NIH funded research.

Title: Introduction to ORCID

Description:

An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a unique digital identifier associated with a researcher to aid in research output discovery, eliminate name ambiguity, and encourage proper citations. A number of funding agencies, including NIH and NSF, use ORCID in the proposal submission process. In this online session from University Libraries, learn about the benefits of ORCID, find out how to get one for yourself, and learn tips and shortcuts for populating your record.
