What's on your hands?

Leisa Rauch (BSN 2019), Dr. Eran Kilpatrick and Dr. Annette Golonka recently published a research article in the Journal of the South Carolina Academy of Science titled, “Identification of Bacterial Isolates Originating from the Human Hand.” The article stemmed from a research project Leisa conducted with Dr. Kilpatrick at USC Salkehatchie and Dr. Golonka at USC Lancaster. Over the course of the study, Leisa used traditional lab procedures and cutting edge molecular technology to identify ten different bacterial cultures that were isolated from the hands of students and faculty (see selected images below).
