Pilot STEM Course Offered

This summer the USC Salkehatchie STEM Initiative is piloting an experiential-learning opportunity focusing on regional STEM careers.

The 4-credit course is open to traditional and dual enrollment students who have a general interest in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), are considering pursing a STEM degree, or are just curious about regional career opportunities.  This face-to-face, seminar-based course featuring both hands-on and virtual activities will give students an opportunity to connect with mentors from SRS, SRNS, DNR, DOE and other regional employers.  Students will develop and enhance skills required for potential internships and will participate in a reverse job fair research poster presentation as their culminating projects.

Qualified students may participate at no cost and will be eligible for a $250 travel stipend.  Only 20 spots are available. Because this course is part of our WORC grant, students must be approved prior to registering.   Interested students must contact Holly McCrary at mccraryh@mailbox.sc.edu.
