Smalls named Jefferson Award Recipient

The smallest of gestures can have the greatest impact.  Instructor of Criminal Justice Kevin Smalls  took the time to listen, took the time to act and chartered a new course for a complete stranger.  Because of his actions, Smalls was awarded the Jefferson Award by ABC News 4.

On Christmas day, Smalls saw Joey Brown traveling from Ft. Myers, Fla. to Hampton, Va., nearly a thousand miles, by foot.  Brown had already walked 16 days when Lt. Smalls helped him out with a bus ticket.

The Jefferson Awards were founded by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis in the early 70s. They honor people in the area of volunteerism and community service.
