USC Salkehatchie Brings Back Popular Community Courses

The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie is excited to announce the return of its popular community interest courses program, offering a variety of engaging classes for adults ages 60 and older. The classes began on Monday, August 25, 2025, with registration open until Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The program provides a wonderful opportunity for adults to learn new skills, explore their interests, and connect with others in a fun and relaxed setting. This semester's course offerings are:

  • Yoga: Strengthen your body and mind. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Walterboro and Mondays from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. in Allendale.

  • Line Dancing: Get moving and have fun. Classes are on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in Williston and Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in Allendale.

  • Apple Bytes and Bits (Introduction to Computers): Learn the basics of computers. Classes are on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Allendale and Fridays from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Walterboro.

  • Creative Writing Club: Find your voice and share your stories. This club meets on Mondays from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in Allendale.

  • Salk You! (A Lecture Series): Engage with fascinating topics. This series is held on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in both Allendale and Walterboro.

  • I'm with the Band: Community Building through Music: Connect with others through the power of music. This course meets on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Walterboro.
