Larry graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and took his first position in higher education as a graphic designer at the University of Rhode Island in 1972.
He was appointed Director of Publications in 1985 and, after 22 years at URI, he surprised everyone, including himself, by accepting his current position at the University of South Carolina in 1994. It didn't take long for South Carolina to become home.
Larry is a past president of the University and College Designers Association (UCDA), a former chairperson of their board of directors, and one of only eight recipients of the UCDA Award for lifetime service. He has been active in the Council for Advancement and Support of Higher Education (CASE) since its inception, serving in many capacities including as a faculty member for the CASE Summer Institute in Communications.
He helped establish and co-chaired the CASE/UCDA Design Institute for five years. Most recently, he presented at the UCDA national conference in Savannah, Georgia, and at the 2010 CASE District III regional annual conference in Tampa, Florida.
Larry feels fortunate to be working with a talented and creative staff that has received numerous national and regional awards for their publications and communications projects.
