Hundreds of students flocked to the part-time job fair Tuesday hosted by USC’s Career Center. But the goal wasn’t just to find on-campus jobs – employers from the Columbia community were looking for workers as well.
“It’s been a great turnout,” said Ebony Langhorne, a new graduate intern in the Career Center. “We’re excited that a lot of students came out.”
Co-hosted by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the employers in the Russell House Ballroom ranged from Kohl’s to Office Depot to NAPA auto parts to the South Carolina Army National Guard.
Given the extensive employer list, students could look for work that might align with long-range career plans. But more immediate concerns were addressed as well.
“There are a lot of jobs to choose from here,” said Xavier McKinney, a sophomore attending the fair for the first time. “And I’ll be happy to take one – anything that pays!”
