This course introduces the basic knowledge of quantitative concepts, principles, and methods necessary for scientific investigation of research problems related to hospitality, retail, and sport management.
This course will serve Ph.D. students in HRSM in two key ways: (1) it will provide them with an understanding and application of quantitative methods and tools that are specific to the research that is common in our field; and (2) it will prepare them for their qualifying examination, which is necessary for them to advance to doctoral candidacy. This course will utilize exercises, cases, and analytical tools (e.g., software) that is commonly used in hospitality, retail, and sport management research.
This course is designed for first-year Ph.D. students and will be taken concurrently with HRSM 788 Research Methods in HRSM. Therefore, in order to provide a consistent foundation of quantitative and statistical knowledge relative to our field of study, and build a strong foundation for effectively conducting doctoral research, we respectfully submit this course is proposed for consideration.
