A study of theories and mechanisms involved in human movement. Focus is on analysis of principles and systems of gross motor control and learning.
We propose creating a new course, PHYT 731 Mechanisms of Motor Skill Performance, to replace EXSC 731 Mechanisms of Motor Skill Performance in the program of study for the DPT Program. Currently, DPT students make up approximately 90 percent of the EXSC 731 class, and beginning in Fall 2017, the course will be taught by DPT faculty. To comply with accreditation rules, DPT instructors must teach PHYT courses to be considered core faculty. Therefore, offering Mechanisms of Motor Skill Performance as a PHYT course will satisfy this accreditation requirement.
The course content will remain the same as EXSC 731 and the two courses will be cross-listed.
Stacey, thank you for adding the topic and corresponding readings to the proposed course syllabus.
Looks fine; minor addition required--disability accommodation statement (See CTE for examples).
