As part of the continuous assessment and improvement process associated with accreditation of the Biomedical Engineering Program by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), faculty within the program have undertaken a comprehensive review and revision of the undergraduate curriculum and approved (September 28, 2016) several course changes. These changes, which are based upon input from senior course reviews and exit interviews, include modifications to the sequencing of coursework, course pre- and co-requisites, learning outcomes, and course descriptions.
Specifically for BMEN 345, the pre-requisites have been changed to reflect the connection of this course to new courses that have been added to the curriculum. The pre-requisite BIOL 302 has been replaced by BMEN 240, as BMEN 240 will replace the requirement of BIOL 302 in the new curriculum (please see the proposal for BMEN 240 for additional details). Currently, BIOL 302 is listed as an alternative to this pre-requisite, to allow current students, who remain in the prior curriculum, to continue to matriculate through the pre-requisites. The BIOL 302 pre-requisite option will be removed when those students have graduated.
