Professional internship in health information technology. Positions assigned on an individual basis with emphasis on management decision making, oral and written communication skills, planning, and problem solving.
Under advice from the Graduate School, we need to change the credit hours from fixed to variable so that students can complete their internships over two semesters, if necessary. Students must earn a total of 6 credit hours for the internship. The number of credits they register for will depend on the number of internship hours the student will complete during the semester. A minimum of 250 hours is required for 6 credits. At the conclusion of their internships students will submit their final reports.
Bulletin Description seems unchanged, making a proposal to change it unnecessary.
Some suggestions: Consider that if the minimum hours for a single enrollment = 1 hour and the total is for 6 hours; perhaps it should be possible to take 6 times (vs. twice) and total hours would be 6 (same).
If 250 hours are required for 6 hours of credit; what is the equation for each hour? The university requirement is for a minimum of 700 minutes or 14 hours. By your equation, I believe it is closer to 42 hours per credit (or 2,520 minutes).
Also, are students actually able to take this class as pass/fail and/or for a grade? Or is it really one or the other?
Plan for assigning grades by credit hour is required.
