We are adding the Undergraduate Pre-requisite of SPAN 312 to all 500 level Spanish courses in literature, including SPAN 543, to ensure that undergraduate students enrolling in this co- convened (undergraduate/graduate) class are adequately prepared to be successful in this advanced literature course taught in Spanish. This will not affect the time to degree for majors.
SPAN 312, 375, 380A, 380B, 400, 401, 500, 518, 524, 534, 538, 543, 555:
The proponent should provide consistent wording to the prerequisites for these courses. In particular, is there a minimum grade (some list C+ or better, other do not). I'd suggest removing the language about undergraduates; the "or consent of the instructor" would cover all graduate (and transfer?) students.
I'm forwarding to C&C. They can decide the appropriate action to be taken; I'll be happy to make any necessary changes but want to point out that I don't see that any change has been entered in APPS. In fact, when I checked the Bulletin, at some of these courses already have the proposed pre-requisited listed for the course.
Thank you for submitting your proposal to the Committee on Curricula & Courses. We appreciate your patience and commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.
